What Is IVF with Donor Embryos?

At Medicover Fertility, embryos are created from eggs and sperm provided by anonymous egg and sperm donors who are registered with agencies accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The donor embryos are frozen at a specific stage in their development and stored until required.

Process for IVF with Donor Embryos

STEP 1 First Consultation and Assessment

Both the male and female partner visit the clinic for a thorough medical examination and blood tests. They also consult with an embryologist. The specialist may prescribe medication.

STEP 2 Stimulation

If IVF with a donor embryo is determined to be the best course of action for the couple, the intended mother is monitored through blood investigations along with ultrasound on day two or three of her menstrual cycle. Based on the results she receives, light hormone medication may be given to enhance the ability of the donor embryo to implant.

STEP 3 Determination of Embryos Required

Taking the mother’s physical state into consideration, the number and development stage of the embryos required for the couple is determined.

STEP 5 Embryo Transfer

The embryologist examines the quantity, quality, and growth of the cultured embryos. Considering the female partner’s history of IVF cycles, the embryologist then selects the best embryo and an appropriate day for its transfer into the uterus of the female partner.
